Thigh Lift Overview

Have you been feeling self-conscious about the sagging skin on your thighs? If so, a thigh lift might be the exact solution you’ve been looking for. During this procedure, known as thighplasty, Dr. Jiles removes the excess skin and fat from around your thighs to give you smoother skin, more proportionate thighs, and a more balanced lower body. When you are looking for a way to address aging, weight loss, or genetics, a thigh lift can enhance your body’s shape and boost your confidence.

Are You a Good Candidate for a Thigh Lift?

Generally, you would be an ideal candidate for a thigh lift if:

  • You have excess soft tissue along your inner or outer thighs.
  • Your weight is relatively stable and you aren’t significantly overweight.
  • You are in good health and don’t have any medical conditions that could impair your healing or increase the risks associated with surgery.
  • You are a non-smoker. Smoking can complicate both the surgery and your recovery process.
  • You have a positive outlook and realistic goals for what lower body lift surgery can achieve

If this sounds like you and you’re ready to improve the look and feel of your thighs, Dr. Jiles is ready to

Dr. Jiles specializes in several types of thigh lift procedures, each tailored to address specific areas of concern and help you achieve the best possible results. Here’s a closer look at each type:

Mini Thigh Lift

The mini thigh lift is a great choice if you have moderate sagging or you are looking to improve the upper part of your inner thigh. Dr. Jiles performs this lift by making a discreet incision in the groin area, where the scar remains hidden by most types of clothing. This approach is excellent for tightening the upper third of the thigh with minimal scarring.

Medial or Full Thigh Lift

The medial or full thigh lift is designed for people who have significant sagging that extends from the groin down to the knee. It offers more extensive correction than the mini thigh lift. Dr. Jiles makes a vertical incision along the inner thigh, possibly combined with a horizontal incision in the groin, forming a T-shaped scar. This allows for the removal of excess skin and fat along the entire length of the thigh. If you have massive weight loss or considerable amounts of laxity all the way down to your knee, this procedure could be the right fit.

Combined Thigh Lift

The combined thigh lift is Dr. Jiles’s comprehensive approach that addresses both the upper and full length of the inner thigh. It is a great option after significant body weight reduction. Dr. Jiles employs a combination of incisions hidden in the groin and extending vertically down the inner thigh, allowing for extensive tissue removal and recontouring from the groin to the knee.

How Much Does a Thigh Lift Cost?

The cost of your thigh lift varies depending on the specific procedure you get and your unique needs. The cost depends on the extent of your surgery and your individual requirements. You need to factor in anesthesia fees and facility fees. Additionally, the cost is influenced by the expertise of the plastic surgeon you choose. However, you should keep in mind that while cost is an important factor in your decision, you should choose a surgeon based on the quality of care and the results you are looking for.

What to Expect During a Consultation

During your consultation for a thigh lift at our Sarasota office, Dr. Emily will discuss your surgical goals and evaluate your thighs to determine the most effective approach for your needs. Thigh Lift Surgery Recovery

After your thigh lift, you can expect:

Immediately Following the Procedure

Immediately after your thigh lift, you’ll start your recovery under the careful guidance of Dr. Jiles and her team. You may notice some bruising and swelling, which is completely normal. Rest makes a huge difference during this initial phase, and you’ll be advised to wear compression garments to support your new contours and minimize swelling. You need to follow all of your post-operative instructions, including managing your pain and avoiding any strenuous activities to make sure you have a smooth recovery.

First Few Weeks

During the first few weeks after your thigh lift, you’ll see significant improvements as the swelling and bruising start to subside. Most patients can return to work within 2–3 weeks, but it will depend on your job’s physical demands. Dr. Jiles will monitor your progress and adjust your recovery plan as needed. It’s important to keep wearing your compression garments.

Full Recovery and Results

Full recovery after your thigh lift takes several weeks to months. Most patients will see the final results within 3–6 months. During this time, you’ll notice your thighs becoming smoother and more defined as your healing progresses. Dr. Jiles will be there to guide and support you until you are fully recovered, with a focus on making sure you stay comfortable and informed about what to expect. The closer you get to your full recovery, the more you will be able to fully appreciate your transformation.

You will immediately notice the difference in your shape after the surgery. Your buttocks will appear very red and swollen for the first few days after the surgery. The areas of liposuction will also become swollen in the days following surgery , which will subside after about 2 weeks. Fat transferred to the buttocks has approximately a survival rate of 70%, which means about a third of the fat transferred will not get enough blood supply to survive. The initial swelling of the buttocks will settle by approximately 8 weeks, to the final resultant size and shape.

Risks Associated with Thigh Lift Surgery

Like all surgeries, there are risks associated with a thigh lift. During your consultation, Dr. Jiles discusses them with you in detail. These may include:

  • Asymmetry
  • Scarring
  • Infection
  • Sensation changes
  • Need for revision surgery

Dr. Jiles has the experience and always implements meticulous techniques to minimize these risks.
